Axu's sunday sessions pt. 3

Starts with darker techno bits and moves forward to dubstep, even to some really wobbly ones (they're good though, trust me) and some drummy tunes too.

Why? For the glory of sunday of course!

Med School: New Blood 011

Hospital Records' always so very nice sister label Med School Music are about to release a sequel to the New Blood 010 compilation album which they released approximately a year ago. That album introduced us guys like Enei, Stray and Joe Syntax, and also ended up getting good recognition outside the usual drum'n'bass listener base.

The limited advance vinyl copies of the new album, titled New Blood 011 are already in the Hospital Shop and features tracks from new and not-so-new producers like Anile, Eleven8, Flame, Furi Anga, and Nuage. Preview tracks are dropping on the Med School website every monday until the release date, which is march 28th.

dust note session 1: jkrl & mozy

Here's a nice set of some uncategorizable beats and pieces. Dust Note Session 1 by jkrl & mozy from Jyväskylä, Finland. Highly recommended.

Hit "Read More" for the tracklist.

Tes La Rok - Drop Dead Mix

Helsinki's very own dubstep ambassador Tes La Rok released a new promo mix. What makes it interesting is the fact that it contains only Finnish dubstep. No wobble or brutal electro presets from Massive. Just deep, dark and cold beats from the man himself and producers like Desto, Clouds, Vesicle, Late and any more. Oh and there's a rather new track from me called "No Control" as well.

Click "read more" to check the full tracklist.

Soundcloud link has already hit the 100 download limit, but the mix is also downloadable at beatplexity

Pedestrian - Dance Music For Home Listening (YSK Podcast 4)

Today I discovered a very nice mix Pedestrian. I have to admit that he's a completely new name to me, but he's got a Commix remix coming out on the Re:call To Mind remix album and he's getting some support from Gilles Peterson as well. Not bad.

The mix itself is a nice compilation of techno/house/dubstep and other nice things, the name of the mix kind of tells you already what to expect. Perfect music for the autumn that's already arrived here in Finland. This one's going to stay in my mp3 player for a while i think.

With the mix, he also did a small interview for You'll Soon Know. Check it out.

Axu - Stress Related Symptoms

Time for some dubstep again, rolling up and down between some crunchy steppy beats and more mellow melodic bass meditation tracks. Sunday vibes.

Found some great free dubs thanks to this Step Ahead thread, respect to all the producers giving out free stuff and hard work whether your genres are. Direct links to the tracks can be found in the tracklist:

This month's Science is going to be slightly dubstep flavoured, although drum'n'bass will be the main thing as usual, but as guest dj's we'd like to introduce two people who have estabilished themselves in Helsinki as dubstep dj's.

Finnish Drum'n'bass & Dubstep 2010

I already touched the topic in podcast #1, but now here's more info on that cd. And a teaser video. All in all there are 13 tracks on the compilation with various Finnish dnb and dubstep artists, and there should be something for everyone. There's been talks about getting the cd done for god knows how many years, so it's about time it finally gets done.

I might be a bit biased with this as I have a tune there as well, but I think the the cd is pretty solid and has a good and versatile selection of tracks. My favourite from the cd might be the track from Dubba Jones. The release party is going to be at Redrum in Helsinki where you'll be able to buy the cd as well. Later on you'll be able to buy the cd from L.A.O.S. website as well as from selected record shops in Helsinki, and various digital download stores.

Update: CD Available for purchase now!
