PixelACHE 2010
Today was the opening of PixelACHE, festival of electronic music, art and subcultures held in Helsinki for the rest of the week. It's been held since 2002 and it contains various workshops, art exhibitions, performances, clubs and whatnot.
The programme has been interesting every year to say the least, concentrating on more or less experimental and interactive electronic art, vj culture and audiovisual performances, science, politics and environmental issues, just to name a few.
This year I'm looking forward to the screening of Aki Kaurismäki's film I Hired a Contract Killer at Kiasma theatre on Sunday. The difference being though, that the soundtrack of the movie is going to be performed live by Vladislav Delay (aka Luomo). The workshops look great too, especially Let's Make Noise, Let's Play Together - a sound workshop for kids. Too bad I'm not exactly a kid anymore.
I already checked out the opening performance of the festival, Arch of Neo, where the dubtechno'ish and wonky dubstep beats by Matti Pentikäinen (aka Teeth) and Niclas Kristiansson (aka Non Person) blended together perfectly with the visuals created by Petri Ruikka and Heikki Ryynänen. However I guess I would've wished for a bit more content than just pretty images and good music, but I still enjoyed it.
But anyway, if you're around in the city, check out the programme and go see what's happening.
